School

The Uluinakorovatu Primary School is one of three schools on Beqa Island. Currently 80 to 90 scholars are attending school in 8 different classes. The school has four rooms, so always two classes are taught together.

The school year contains 41 weeks, with twice two weeks of vacations in April and August and long summer holidays in December/January. After 8 years of primary school it’s possible to attend 4 more years of secondary school in bigger villages. Students with good grades get a chance to attend the USP (University of the South Pacific) afterwards. Beside the university, Vocational Schools teach practical professions including an internship.

In Naceva scholars get taught in English, Fijian, mathematics, nature studies, handicraft work and sports.

Scholars have to wear uniforms (shirt and sulu), as of late teachers get uniforms as well, just as they desired desperately …
